Growing up Fast

I thought this was adorable. He looks so grown up and so much like he is up to something! My oldest nephew will graduate from Kindergarten next week, so here's his picture!

Rain today, not Saturday

I have been keeping a close eye on the forecast this week. I really, really, really want to go camping during NICE weather this weekend. But of course there is rain in the forecast, but accordign to weather.com only a 30% chance...that leaves a 70% chance it won't rain, doesn't it? Anyway, I'm very excited and we have figured out a lot of what we are going to take with us, what we are going to do and it should be just plain fun....as long as it doesn't rain. There have probably only been 3 or 4 times my whole life that I've actually packed up dry camping equipment the next morning. And the strong storms are the most memorable nights camping. The good thing is it doesn't look like it should be a constant rain, so it can rain until then if it wants, but Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon, I really would like it to be dry.

First Official Baby Gifts

Yesterday, I saw a friend that lives about 7 hours away and she brought me my first official baby gifts. She brought me three little outfits and baby lotion and soap. It was so sweet. Anyway, for lack of anything better to say this morning, I thought I'd just show you what I got.

Homemade Salsa

I went to the store on Saturday, not because I like to go on the weekend, but because they had a really good ad and it was my only chance to go. I found several items in produce on sale...tomatoes, peppers, onions, garlic, cilantro, all the ingredients necessary for homemade salsa. I had never made homemade salsa before, but really, how hard could it be? You buy the ingredients, throw them in the food processor, pulse until it is salsa. It worked, and even tastes good, with one minor problem. I made enough salsa for a large cinco de mayo party instead of just enough for my husband and myself to eat. I attempted to freeze some of it, we'll see how that works, otherwise, on our menu this week....SALSA!

Updates

This morning I thought I would just update you on a few things.

Mama robin never did return to her nest, therefore, I still have eggs that are probably rotten and no baby birds.

The potato incident last Friday wasn't a single event. Saturday and Tuesday Kendall helped herself to additional potatoes, peeling them as she ate them. I really would like to know exactly how she does that, and definitely why. The remaining potato that she didnt eat is not on the counter.

The weather last night definitely resembled spring with loud storms, strong winds, hail, etc. There was a tornado supposedly touched down just south of Belton but then it went north of us.

And tonight we are maybe going out to do our frog survey again. We are doing a frog event from 6-9 and are supposed to go out after that to do our survey, but it is supposed to be really windy. So who knows???

Planning a camping trip

In a little over a week, we are finally going to get to go camping, I just hope the weather cooperates. Yes, I have been camping in everything from high winds with snow to so hot that the sleeping bag wasn't needed, to it storming so hard that I wondered if a tree would fall across us, but my husband has never camped (at least not in a tent) during those conditions and my friends that are going with us have never gone camping. So I'm hoping for good weather so they will all want to go again someday. Meanwhile I'm trying to figure out exactly what we will need to take with us, what we will eat, and get everything organized so that it will go smoothly. Any suggestions of things I might have forgotten?

Have a great day!
