Happy Easter!

It wasn't our annual camping trip to Petit Jean, but we still had a good weekend. I did miss the sunrise service, singing "Because He Lives" as the sun rises over Stout's Point, but we did get to dress up pretty and go to our church which was also nice.  Friday the rain held off enough for a good Easter Egg hunt.  Emily liked finding "more egg."  Friday night we let her watch Tangled with her cousins.  She loved it...and stayed up way too late.  Then yesterday we went to the city's Easter Festival.  The mass egg hunt scared her.  She didnt want to get face paint or sit on the Easter rabbit (her words) lap, so she got a free hot dog and went to the slides.  She would have stayed there all day if it had been up to her, but I thought we shoudl come home, eat the hot dog (she ate 2...but no buns) and then take a nap.  Was not hard at all to get her to sleep!  We dyed eggs (no pictures of that...it required all attention and we still managed to dye one of our chairs green...but have I ever mentioned I love my spot bot?)  then tried to mow the yard but the lawn mower didnt want to so it still needs done.  Then we went to bed early.  Easter morning we get up, she wants to go sit on the Easter rabbit's lap now (had to explain that was a limited time offer) and we give her an easter basket with a little candy, a stuffed dog and a Caillou book.  She LOVES the book.  We went to church, out to lunch, tried to find a lawn mower part (got it ordered) Then her cousins came back to get something they'd forgotten here the other day and played with her for a while.  She is now sleeping soundly.  And that sounds like a good idea...I'm tired too!
Is it cheating when someone leaves their bucket behind and you find eggs in it??
Oh and dandelions are a lot of fun....its just instinct to blow those seeds everywhere, even when they are wet!
She got her fingernails and toenails painted.
She liked this egg at the park yesterday!  Wasnt a bunch of other people trying to get it!
She loves climbing...by herself!  Scares me but she is getting bigger.
 Riding on the dinosaur.
Ok, so doesnt she look adorable even if she refused to pose????  She also had a headband that matched but she didnt leave it on very long....and the gloves came off and went on about 50 times before we ever got to church so they stayed in the car.
Cute ....even with the lip sticking out...she's good at that face!
Then we decided we didnt want to wear the hat.
I think Aunt Diane got better pictures of her smiling in her dress...but since she still uses film we'll have to wait to get those:)

So Happy Easter....and remember the reason we celebrated today

John 3:16  For God so LOVED the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

And it just doesnt get any better than that!

Things that Go Bump in the Night

I'm starting to understand why there have been so many children's books written addressing monsters in the closet, under the bed, etc.  A couple nights this week Neal has found Emily asleep on the couch after I'd gotten up and put her back in bed.  Then last night she got up in the middle of the night (again) and when I put her back on bed she grabbed a hold of me like a baby possum grabs its mama and she wasnt about to let go.  "It scare me"  "What scares you?"  "It" and she points around trying to find something to point at.  Up until this point I was convinced she was "scared" because she wanted to come sleep in our bed.  But this wasnt pretend scared, something was really scaring her so I told her I'd lay with her a few minutes.  Then we heard a noise and she held on to me even tighter.  Hmmm...why  is the water running downstairs causing the pipes to make noise??  Was very short, but evidently plumbing noises are very scary.  Today I figured out our downstairs toilet is running every so often, which would explain the intermittent noises.  Didnt have time for toilet repair in my schedule though so tonight, the water to the downstairs toilet is shut off, so hopefully I won't be up at one am singing "God is bigger than the boogie man" to a 2 1/2 year old that is scared of her bed and will only sleep either in my bed or on the couch.

This Weekend

This weekend we went pseudo-camping with my inlaws.  (No tent was involved, not really camping).  Anyway, Emily had a blast playing outside ALL day (we went in the trailer to go pee or get something and she'd say "more play outside" and we'd go back out.)  The weather was nice and warm but not too warm.  We enjoyed it, even heard turkeys gobble (but its not real effective to sneak on a turkey with a two year old and a loud mouthed schnauzer!)
Riding on Grandpa's old tractor.

She loves her puppy....she kept hugging her saying, "more picture"
And Grandpa does whatever Emily wants....he said she's a good workout and I will definitely agree!
We finally got to go on a short hike, but there were big dropoffs the big kids were exploring so we found our own big rocks and took pictures.  She was waving:)

And she didnt want help going up the big rocks...yep, my girl could go on a short hike at Piney no problem!
When they got done exploring she had to make all her cousins pose on big rocks with her.
All day Saturday she kept asking "Where Jonathon go" but she doesnt really say Jonathon so it took a while before I figured out what she was saying.

And who needs toys when you can play in rocks??

Wonder what busy activity will keep us busy next weekend....I think there is a special event out at Burr Oak Woods....we should go (there is also a really neat park right there she'd have fun at too!)

"Thank you Daddy for the Baby Moos"

Emily's statement before she went to bed Saturday night.  We went out to the children's farm Saturday with our friends and Emily had a blast.  She really wanted to ride the pony but wasnt quite big enough for that. (minimum age was 3).  But she LOVED the rest of it.  Then we went to Chuck E Cheese and it was fun, but there werent very many activities for toddlers and before our pizza came she was wanting to go to other tables that already had pizza instead of playing games.  And she wanted to go up and slide but the steps were too far apart for her and there were too many other kids for me to go up with her.  But it was a fun day.  And we couldnt have requested better weather.
Emily watching Mickey Mouse (she had to change into her minnie mouse jammies to watch it) the other morning.  She was feeling MUCH better.  By the way 2 year olds dont throw up in the bucket....and I dont know how I survived without my spot bot.  I love that thing!

Emily wearing as much of the stuff that Aunt Jill sent her at once as she could possibly get on.  She loves the sparkly "Meow".  And you can't see it but she even had to change her panties to wear the ones she got in the mail.
The first animals were the doodle doos.  She likes seeing them but there werent good photo ops so we went to the cow barn.  The calf licked her.  That was really funny (to her)
But she wasnt so sure about riding the saddle.
And she only wanted to ring one bell at a time.  Daddy would shake the chain and she told him no no.
Then we got to give baby goats a bottle of milk.  The ones back here still wanted milk, the ones in the petting area were getting full from so many kids giving them milk.
But they were fun to pet.
I think there was a baby goat that looked like it needed her attention:)

The only scary thing was teh blow dryer when daddy dried her hands.
Her and daddy had to sit on this bench (and a few others) together.
She loved the goats.

The quarter for food to feed this goat was well worth it.  See how much fun she's having.

And yes, it kept sticking her entire hand in its mouth.  And she loved it!  The goat did too.
