Turn around

Sometimes it seems that things can change quickly, other times they hang on forever. Well, two weeks ago our a/c died in the dreadful heat, yesterday morning it was cool enough I put on a light jacket. Our dog got really sick, turns out she had a mouthful of rotten teeth and then we believe she was allergic to the medicine that was supposed to be making her better, but the last two nights her and Emily have chased each other all over the house, the dog being her spry little self again. My husband has been out of a job for six months, and yesterday got a job, pending a two week trial period. So yes, my friend, things are looking up around here.

Interesting things that have happened lately:

While in the backyard playing the other day, we could hear a siren. My little angel looks at me and goes "bad boys bad boys". Ok, so maybe we need to watch something other than cops occasionally:)

One of the kids favorite songs in daycare is "If you're happy and you know it". Well, about three weeks ago I couldnt remember the third part, i had clap your hands stomp your feet and shout but I couldn't remember what to shout so we shouted amen. Fast forward to the next week. I had found the song on a cd and they were doign shout hurray. So we were singing it and the 4 year old little boy looks at me and says, "what about herman?" Herman? Who in the world is herman and what is this kid talking about??? after a couple more times through he said again, "I want to say herman" Oh, dear. I realized exactly what he was saying, he'd never shouted amen, he was shouting herman!

And some bad news....the sparkly pink shoes are too small. We love our sparkly pink shoes and its finally cooling off enough to wear them again but uh oh, our feet have grown and they barely squeeze on. Never fear though, grandmother is on the hunt for some slightly larger sparkly pink shoes.

No Excessive Heat Warning

Ah...relief at long last. Today there is no excessive heat warning and to be perfectly honestly it was downright pleasant outside this morning. Much enjoyed by the kiddos that have been cooped up too much lately! So they played outside for a while and they played hard.
They slid on the slide, played in the sandbox and were having tons of fun. And now they are all sound asleep...yes, a nice day. And so I actually have a few minutes to blog...and even pictures! So here is our weekend, in reverse (not enough time or ambition to put them in the proper order) Emily looking for her first geocache. We found it and she was still looking under the bridge probably thinking my parents are nuts!
The playground was loads of fun...tunnels and slides what more could a kid want?

Backyard fun with our best friends.

A rare family photo at Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead on Saturday

The goat was trying to eat the stroller which is why she is leaning to the other side

Aren't they cute?

This could have tons of captions, I'll let you add your own.

Feeding the ducks was a highlight.

She enjoyed the baby goats until....

Four of them had her shirt in their mouths.

And a hot day last week Emily had a bomb pop (a mess was more like it but she enjoyed it!)

Is it Fall yet???

Ok, so some of you that live in the south may expect to fry eggs on your driveway on a regular basis, and hey, August is supposed to be hot, right? Yeah, doesn't matter, I'm sick of it. It has been a LONG HOT summer and even though I know the end is somewhere over the rainbow, I felt a need to share my opinion about the weather. Have you ever been cooped up with 4-6 little kids (mostly 1 year olds) and there are excessive heat warnings and one year olds get very crabby when they get hot so you don't let them play outside? That's my world these days. And...to top it off, I have been sticking to a budget very well lately, not spending unless absolutely necessary and then 1 pm rolled around today. Granted the spending was absolutely necessary. Not sure where above 100 the heat index was, but it was there. I'm getting the kiddos down for nap when I hear a weird noise. Oh no, please tell me that is the neighbors doing something (they might be out in this heat...after all instead of using a weedeater the lady uses scissors all around her house and fence) Nope, no neighbors, still the noise, which by this time I'm pretty sure what it is. An hour and a half and a couple hundred dollars later we are back up and cooling, which is good because the upstairs was nearing 90 degrees in that short amount of time. Now, it is almost cooled off in here, I really need to run the dryer and dishwasher, some things just can't be put off!

And just let me say, I have no desire for winter or snow, but how about a nice 72 degree day? I could definitely go for that about now!
