Whoever is Praying for Snow
To the person out there praying for snow....please stop! I admit, I didnt come up with this saying on my own, I heard it on the radio, but since I so thoroughly agreed with it, I thought I'd share. And for those of you that are superstitious, you better go find your groundhog today and give him a snow shovel. For me, my groundhog will not be scared back into his den because from the looks of things, he will not be able to get out! And who can blame him, with the forecast, I think I'd stay hibernating if I were a hibernating type creature too!

Do you ever wonder?
Sometimes I wonder what goes on in that little head full of curls. Other times, there is no wondering because words come spewing out as fast as that little tongue can go(which Mommy understands most of but to the rest of the world may not make sense). And then there are moments when you have to use those days of training, you know the ones where you are told not to laugh at the visitors whenever they ask what time the deer turn into elk or how much bear (aka pepper) spray they should use on themselves. Tonight was just such an instance. Emily was taking a bath. Bathtubs are slippery, so the mommy in me thinks that sitting and playing is the best choice. The kid in Emily thinks sitting semi-still to do anything is no fun. So she stands up, I wash her that way, a compromise of sorts. Well, I was trying to get the soap out of her hair and she decides to jump. I tell her stop jumping. She looks at me very seriously and says, "But I frog". I needed her to stop jumping, I couldnt just laugh, but really, pretty funny. Oh the things that humor and excite me:) (speaking of if you've never tried it, Mr. Clean Bathroom Magic Erasers are phenomenal!) Ok, its bedtime.

Emily's Snow
The last two weeks have brought us winter. And while I am so very ready for spring, and not a big fan of the snow, you have to stop and look at the bright side of it....maybe look at it through the eyes of a two year old as she got to play, learn to throw snowballs with daddy, and build her very first snowman. I know many of you dont have the time to sit and watch long videos of Emily, but for those of you that would love to play in the snow with her and are just too far away to do that, here's about 10 or 11 minutes of Emily's snow. (Well, the very beginning is her watching Caillou...we go through this same ritual every time it comes on. She hears the theme song and comes running, slapping her knees and at that end she holds her hands out and goes "That's Me"...I suppose she could like much more annoying cartoons...)

Emily's Snow
The weekend around here was pretty uneventful. The most incredible part however had to be whenever I told Emily she needed to go to sleep at naptime on Saturday. She said, "Ok Mommy" and went to sleep. We still had plenty of snow so we took a little girl out to play a few times. I took some video too but it takes a while to upload and dinner will be ready in a minute.
Getting ready to go play in the snow.Sledding with Daddy
Just kept telling her "Don't eat yellow snow!"
Ready for bed after a fun day (did I mention she napped and was rested and in a good mood? Can't say so much for the present moment though!)

The Terrible Twos
I no longer question the terminology terrible twos. Emily is two and has definitely got a "me do it my way" attitude. Sometimes she drives me crazy! And she sat behind the trashcan and pouted for an hour and a half on Friday. And getting ready to go to Walgreens yesterday took twice as long as the actual trip. She is, however, mostly potty trained, which is great! She went most of the week, even with a cold and extra kids to play with, without having many accidents, although yesterday she must've wet her pants at naptime (and changed so I didnt know it) and when we were getting ready for bed last night I made a horrible discovery. Green blankie was soaked in pee pee and absolutely disgusting! I wasnt sure how I was going to get her to sleep, I had to take it away from her and bribe her with cheese, juice and I finally got her to love on her pillow pet instead of her blankie while I rushed it to the wash. She did go to sleep, and slept all night but was very excited when she got a nice clean and dry green blankie this morning. She's just growing so fast...and is 100% little girl....I had 26 to use at Toys R Us yesterday and I couldnt even bring myself to look at toys, they didnt have any Elmo books I wanted, and so I went for clothes, socks and hairbows. Got her more hairbows than she needs, but she loved them. She actually was needing the socks...her feet have grown lately and half her socks she had were too small, and then I got her an outfit and a dress coat for next year, so I think I used my freebies well. And at walmart I got her two sets of jammies for next winter for a total of $3. That's better than garage sale prices! And this morning, when Emily let Kendall out..."Snow mommy it snow" And she loves "nomen" so if we do get the predicted 5-8 inches of snow tomorrow, mommy and Emily may have to go out and build a "nomen"
And since she's still got a really snotty nose we thought it best not to take her to the nursery at church this morning, but we let her put on her pretties anyway. And of course she had to show off for the camera:)
This would probably be my favorite if I hadnt gotten the glare right on her face!

Happy New Year!
I actually started working on this on Friday, but am just now getting it here. I hope everyone enjoyed the new year and yes, it came with me sound asleep, just like I knew it would. We had some family over for pizza last night and now we've just got to finish cleaning our house and take the Christmas decorations that are semi boxed up to the basement. I've also been trying to figure out what we'd like to do on some weekends this year...trips to the zoo and Science City, time with friends, etc. And yes, we finally have enough money for a swingset so somewhere along the way we have to get that and build it. Oh the things to look forward to.
And so, as we welcome 2011, here's a look back at all the fun of 2010 (warning, its about 8 minutes I think).
