Emily's Friends

My daughter is a camera hog. She will be doing cute things and then she will see the camera and stop what she is doing and just grin. then she will get closer and grin again, which is cute, but it is a little difficult to get action shots. Our daycare is now going with 4 or 5 kids every day. Emily is making friends with the kids that are here, although she sometimes gets tired of playing with the older kids because they are big enough to try and pick her up, and the little boy that is a month older than her likes to give hugs, but his hugs are more like tackles sometimes and she doesn't like getting knocked over. They play well together most of the time though, and the two of them together will start up the stairs if I don't keep the door shut. They dont get far though because they both giggle as they are doing it.
She was clapping in this picture, not sure what at, but she was clapping.
Approaching the camera making sure mommy is getting the picture of her, not one of the other kids.

I'm an expert crawler now...I can get into things FAST!

Coming closer (are you noticing a trend?)

Can you believe how big she's getting!

This little girl is three weeks older than Emily and they love playing together, although they do tend to take toys away from each other...they are learning to share.

I'm thinking about just turning loose and taking off. She will probably start running and later figure out walking:)

Again, camera hog...before she was showing this little girl how to move the stuff on the exersaucer.

My daughter may not be the only one that turns to look at the camera.

For some reason she prefers standing on her tiptoes!
Ok, an opinion question for all you mothers out there that still use diaper bags....what kind do you like best. My cute little diaper bag I'd been using is just too small now that I try to carry food, bibs, sippy cup and juice, toys, diapers and clothes keep getting bigger, etc. so I'm going to get a new one. Problem is, can't find exactly what I want, so suggestions are welcome! I actually like one that one of the kids has, just can't find it anywhere--probably last years model or something goofy like that!

Busy Summer

We've been busy lately. Not that it is a bad thing, its just been busy. Daycare has finally picked up where I'm busier with it now, and I no longer can sit down and type a long blog without having to stop Emily from getting into something. She is a very busy little girl these days. She has perfected crawling and pulling herself up. her only problem is once she is standing she's not quite sure how to go back to sitting so she stands either until she falls or someone helps her. Oh and we can't forget. Last week I harvested my tomato crop....

No, this isnt the whole crop. I had one more that wasnt quite ready yet!

More of my little girl

As I was sitting on the couch watching the kids (I think I was actually feeding one of the babies), the other day I started thinking. There are many choices we make in life that seem right and then a couple months later we question if we had done the right thing. There have been times in life when we wished we could replay and have another shot to do things better. Then there are times like now. I was sitting on the couch with one foot tucked under me and the other dangling down (yes, for you tall people out there my leg was dangling because it didnt reach the floor). I looked at the edge of the couch and little fingers appeared. In just a couple seconds I heard giggling and saw eyes looking over the edge of the couch at me. Yes, Emily is learning to pull herself up. She can pull up to her knees pretty easy now, its getting all the way to her feet that she has trouble with...but I'm sure that will come soon. And then, that same day, one of the babies rolled over for the first time. I questioned whether I should tell the mom, knowing that it is those moments with Emily that I want to be there for, and I am thankful, with absolutely no regrets, that I get to stay home with her every day and see all those little things that mean so much. It seems like just yesterday we were excited she rolled over and now.....she's off! And she likes to try to eat leaves. Maybe she caught some of those edible plant programs before she was born and didnt realize that brown leaves weren't on the menu....

Busy Weekends

Once again, we had a busy, but fun, weekend. We went down to the property on the lake and took the boat out for a short ride with 3 other couples from our church. Unfortunately, after the 4th of July I had forgotten to change the camcorder from nightshot and so it made the video at the lake WAY too bright...basically a white screen with sound effects. Oh well. I did get some good pictures of Emily and her daddy playing in the water. I'm not sure exactly how long the ride was, but we rode out, stopped and played a while, and then rode back and it was the length emily needed. We actually stopped where we did because Emily was getting fussy and then the boat ramp was in view when she started getting fussy again. She was really good, which considering how busy we've been lately somewhat suprised me. Plus she stayed up until after midnight on Friday and Saturday this week. She's napping now....so are the other kids I'm watching. So really my only problem right now....I would LOVE to take a nap too!

Sometimes it doesnt matter how much fun you are having, you just have to take a nap!

Can anyone see what's about to happen next in this picture?

Emily and her daddy after "swimming" in the lake.

Isn't my stroller great? I'm having tons of fun on my walk!

A look of adoration....on both of their faces!

A puppy, a baby and a staircase

I realize lately you've mostly been looking at pictures with very few stories, so I thought I'd update with some words this time. Emily has taken off....she can army crawl as well as anybody in the armed forces. I told her daddy she thought that was how she was supposed to crawl after watching so many programs on the military channel. She does get up on her hands and knees, and has crawled a short shuffle that way, but usually ends up on her nose when she tries that. She may be going to be as coordinated as her mother:) Anyway, last night I was on the phone, her daddy was downstairs and she took off around the end of the loveseat, which Kendall happened to be laying on. She gets to the end of the loveseat and Kendall jumps up and goes in front of the stairs. (I was behind Emily but this was interesting so I just watched a few minutes.) Kendall starts doing something of a soccer goalie manuever not letting Emily get very close to the stairs. Emily stopped for a little bit but then she started going again so Kendall must've decided that method wasn't working very well, so she went and tried to grab Emily by the diaper. I thought I should step in at that point, but somehow Kendall knew that Emily wasn't supposed to go down the stairs by herself. Unfortunately, I didnt have the video camera in my hand and couldn't go get it (in case Kendall was unsuccessful I didnt want Emily to fall down the stairs either!)

And yes, Emily did ride the four wheeler, but on a very short SLOW ride. She thought it was great though. Her little knuckles were turning white holding on to the handlebar so tight when her daddy was trying to get her off. They wouldn't have sat there as long as they did, but it was really humid and my camera had been in the air conditioning and so it took it a while to unfog (have I ever mentioned how glad I am that I don't wear glasses anymore--a very good investment!)

Other recent questions....the three year old little girl that I keep a couple days a week asked me the other day "Does God have teeth?" I think that comes from almost everyone else that I keep is either Emily's age or younger and we've had several days of cranky babies as they have been teething.

And now I'm going to go to bed. Another busy weekend this weekend, then I think next week, we rest.....
